DigitalOcean Droplets 2019 – Digital Ocean Plans and Pricing, Features

Posted on

DigitalOcean Droplets are Linux-based virtual machines (VMs) that run on vitalized hardware. Each droplet you create is a new server that you can use, either standalone or as part of a larger, cloud-based infrastructure.

The Bandwidth

Each droplets include free outbound data transfer starting at 1000 GB / month and scaling. Outbound data transfer is shared between each billing to each billing cycle. Additional transfers are billed at $ 0.01 / GB, but most users do not exceed the amount included with their draft.

You can see your accumulated monthly transfer allowance in the Draft Transfer section on your account billing page. For a detailed description of how data transfer works, read our detailed bandwidth billing page.

Regional Availability

Most droplet plans are available in all areas. General purpose droplets schemes are available in NYC1, SFO2, AMS3, FRA1, and SGP1.

Due to limited capacity, NYC2, AMS2 and SFO1 are currently disabled for users who do not already have resources in those areas. Not more than 48GB of RAM and all customized plans are available in these areas.

Tags are custom labels that you apply that have many uses:

Filtering: – Tagging multiple drops with a single label allows you to organize your resources and see a filtered list of drops that share those particular tags.
Automatic inclusion: – Firewall rules and load balancer backend pools. Automatically include drops in a firewall or load balancer configuration by tag, reducing administration overhead while adding new drops to your infrastructure.
API call execution: multiple drops at once. Initiate action on all drops with the same tag using the DigitalOcean API.

Temporary IP:

DigitalOcean floating IPs are publicly accessible static IP addresses that you can assign to drops. A floating IP provides an additional static address that you can use to access a droplet without changing or changing the original IP address of Drupal.

Block Storage Volume:

DigitalOcean Block Storage is a appropriate & pliant way of managing additional storage (in units called volumes) for your Droplets. Volumes are independent resources that you can move between drops within the same region. You can increase the volume size without powering the Droplet attached to it. They are most useful when you need more storage space, but do not require additional processing power or memory that provides a big drop,

DigitalOcean Cloud Firewalls is a free, network-based, stateful firewall service for your DigitalOcean Droplets. They stop all traffic that is not expressly permitted by a rule. You can define drops protected by firewalls individually or by using tags.

Load Balancers:

DigitalOcean Load Balancers is a fully managed, highly available load balancing service. Load balancers distribute traffic to groups of droplets, which ensure the overall health of the backend service from the health of a single server so that your services stay online.
